Why Get Involve in Politics

Why get into politics and why such a visible role the first time out –
– Because we have waited long enough to have a voice and to have visibility.
– Because after more than 40 years of being in America, the Lao Americans have been kept away from the table. A former refugee must be allowed a voice for the new refugees coming into our great state.
– Because a prideful gay man has to stay invisible in order to hold office. Gay youth that are thrown out of their homes for being born or bullied at school must know that it gets better in the future.
– Because we ignore issues faced by the homeless while talking about income inequality. We must bring homeless advocates to the table to implement a comprehensive strategy to address social behavioral needs, training, housing, opportunities and options.
– Because everyday hardworking families cannot afford housing. It should be a right to have a roof over your head if you have a full-time job.
– Because good paying jobs and higher education and vocational training should be in the same conversation. A partnership between the private and the educational/vocational sector is imperative to ensure well trained workers are prepared to meet the demands of a 21st century workforce.
– Because we need a working class voice at the table. We need a thoughtful perspective from someone who could be living right in our neighborhood who sees the everyday struggles of the average family.
