This past weekend, I was honored to lend my support to Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom as I marched in his San Francisco Gay Pride contingency and in his bid for California Governor. As a San Francisco resident I remember when then Mayor Newsom was an early advocate for gay marriage and ordered the San Francisco city-county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples back in 2004.
In my early years as an advocate in workforce development between 2004-2006 I worked with his office in his support of the Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program and the Youth Employment Coalition.
Subsequently, as an advocate for affordable housing and first time home ownership between 2006 – 2010 I was able to work with Mayor Newsom’s office to provide education and opportunity to the residents of San Francisco.
Gavin Newsom’s initiatives along with many positive reforms he has worked on made possible opportunities for the many families and children in San Francisco. He has continued to work on important issues and shedding light on other challenges as Lieutenant Governor. He deserves our support to become Governor of California in 2018.
